Good view of the vast Salt Lake, the largest lake west of the Mississippi that is 4-8 times saltier than the ocean! There is parking, for now, on the overlook and no restrooms were available. The lake behind it has receded quite a bit and Saltair no longer sits near the shoreline. When the renovations are completed, it will be an available venue for whoever wants to utilize the space. Now, there are no resort rooms, and it's a concert venue for various types of acts, and recognized names have performed there.

In 1893, Saltair was designed by the same architect that designed the Utah State Capital building, and was built on the south shore by some enterprising local cultural leaders. Saltair was the most popular, and it remains a strong a cultural symbol. This area has been a popular recreation site since the early settlement time and several resorts been built on the lakeshore since the first two were constructed in 1870. We were not allowed inside the hard hat area, but I did take some photos inside and out. We parked at the overlook off the access road, and walked down to the building where there were work crews. When we arrived, Saltair was temporarily closed for a short time as it is under new ownership and was undergoing renovations.
